About us

As an independent speciality coffee shop, our sole purpose is to discover new and exciting coffee flavours and share them with our customers.

The team of baristas at KOA are constantly sampling and selecting beans from different roasteries – the monthly selection process is full of intense debate, where eventually we pick out the roasters and varieties that really excite us and share them with you.

Our boxes, beautifully packaged and curated with (or without) chocolate make brilliant gifts for any coffee lover or a treat for yourself.

A little more about us...

KOA Coffee was set up by a London-based Kiwi brother and sister in 2015 - a busy coffee bar in leafy Rosebery Ave a few steps from Exmouth Market. Famous for its oversize botanical wallpaper featuring the red flowers from the Pohutukawa tree and its no fuss and no palaver Kiwi approach, where consistently excellent coffee is the norm.

A website and online offering has long been on the cards, but 2020 has certainly been an interesting year(!) and so with the doors temporarily closed, we were presented with the ultimate opportunity to push ahead and here we are with our shiny new website.

The world of coffee is a vast and chaotic one, and what ends up in the cup is a product of incredible variety; from harvest seasons to climate, to politics and economics - and of course how you brew and what equipment you are using.

A core part of what we do and love is the coffee selection process, for the team to get together with new and exciting taste experiences and bring them to our customers. As an independent coffee shop, we are free to pick and choose those roasteries and varieties that excite us the most and align with our core values. We have been blown away by the array of choices that has grown over the years as more and more independent UK coffee roasteries have emerged. We hope you’ll enjoy exploring these tastes as much as we do.

As equipment can be just as daunting, we’ve put together the kind of kit options that will suit you best, whatever the budget. As equipment has evolved, there is now a real opportunity for the home barista, with the right beans and kit, to achieve consistent, high quality results... even on a tight budget.
